Bath Sydenhams sponsor WASPS
Year 5 Boys with a Sting!
WASPS thrilled a large crowd with a 14 -3 victory. WASPS took the lead in a tight first half, only for St Mary’s to fight back on each occasion. WASPS went into half-time with a slender lead but soon opened up plenty of breathing space finishing the game strongly. In the fading light, the home strip, provided by Sydenham’s Timber & Building Supplies, proved helpful. Despite the flattering score the away team worked hard & was unlucky, forcing the keeper to make some fine saves. (perhaps the England squad may be interested in taking on these boys?)
WEAR IT PINK – 2007
Friday 26th October 2007 saw staff members at Newport Timber Engineering discarded their usual work attire and donned an item of Pink Clothing in aid of Breast Cancers annual “Wear it Pink” Day. Rachel Austin (pictured) was the most enthusiastic member of staff, wearing anything pink she could lay her hands on, right down to the Pink Fairy Wings. In total they raised £67.16, helped very much by the Girls parading through the Timber Market with collection box in hand.
Isle of Wight Rally Team
After a controlled drive through some of the toughest stages in the UK, the Isle of Wight Rally Team of Will Nicholls & Nick Broom reached the end of the Cambrian Stages in North Wales as the newly crowned 2007 BTRDA Rally Champions. Despite the Sydenhams sponsored Subaru Impreza S8 suffering from a fast disappearing menu of gear, it all held together over the slippery gravel stages that were to claim many of the more experienced Welsh crews. As the rally moved deep into the heart of Snowdonia the weather closed in and the mist hung menacingly in the tall trees. The time allowed for the 23-mile trip was extremely tight; thankfully they made it in time to receive the applause from the waiting crowds who welcomed the new 2007 Champions. A great team effort and an astonishing result from just 6 of the 9 – point scoring rounds available. Next up following a rest, is the Tempest Rally, an event and another trophy Will is looking to add to his ever expanding display cabinet after having won it in the previous two years.
