It goes without saying that 2020 has been a challenging year. While the government has released financial support packages to help businesses through, there’s still a lot of ground to make up and lost revenue to try and recoup – especially in the building industry.
What’s the Green Homes Grant?
As part of a wider £3bn Government plan to reduce carbon emissions, the progressive Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme is set to benefit over 600,000 homeowners in England, providing access to funding for a wide range of energy efficiency measures - which could help households save up to £600 a year on energy bills.*
In commercial terms… this represents a potential customer base of 600,000 homes.
Moreover, as the government vouchers will provide two-thirds of energy-efficient home improvements up to the value of £5,000, and for low income, owner occupiers and those in receipt of income-based or disability benefits, a 100% subsidy up to a contribution of £10,000 is available – there’s going to be plenty of budget available.
How does it work?
In simple terms, the scheme is split between two stages: primary and secondary measures.
Use insulation to guide the conversation
Solid wall, cavity wall, under-floor, flat roof, room in roof and park home insulation are all eligible for funding support under primary measures. Loft insulation is also a recommended measure but it’s more readily accessible, causes less disruption, can be completed quickly to a high standard – and delivers tangible energy savings.
This means loft insulation gives you an easy way to open up the Green Homes Grant conversation with your potential customers, and you can add further value by guiding them through the insulation choice.
Not all insulation is the same
The main driver behind the Green Homes Grant is to improve the energy efficiency of homes, which will ultimately reduce energy bills for your customer. Given the expected popularity of this scheme, and therefore competitiveness with other tradespeople, recommending the right insulation is a reliable way of securing a competitive advantage.
For example, stone wool insulation will deliver benefits far beyond energy efficiency – making homes safer, warmer and quieter. And ROCKWOOL’s Thermal Insulation Roll does exactly this. Made of high-density non-directional fibres, this stone wool insulation blocks and absorbs sounds. It’s also resistant to water and is vapour permeable, helping to protect the lifespan of the property in which it’s installed.
However, one of the strongest benefits of stone wool insulation is its non-combustibility. So, when speaking to customers you can guarantee that this insulation will not burn, offering the greatest level of fire protection alongside excellent thermal performance.
Plus choosing ROCKWOOL Thermal Insulation Roll will simplify jobs as it is quick and easy to install, minimising disruption to customers and enable you to complete more projects to a quality standard, faster.
