Environmental Policy Statement

At Sydenhams we are aware of, and responsible for, our impact on the environment.  We take our responsibility seriously as a goods & services provider, investor, employer and consumer and we are committed to understanding and continuing to improve our environmental impact.

With every transaction we are working to reduce our carbon footprint, non-recyclable or re-usable waste and pollution both internally, and within the wider supply chain. We will be utilising our talented pool of employees, alongside trusted external advisors, to help us to achieve our targets.

Our environmental objectives for 2024-25 are to:

  1. Reduce our energy use by 10%.
  2. Convert 5% of our total energy usage to renewable sources.
  3. Reduce our non-recyclable waste.

Directors and staff will meet our objectives by:

  • Working on identified targets.
  • Meeting all of our legal, moral and compliance obligations to our stakeholders; for example, ISO 14001, Timber CoC, SECR, ESOS, GRI, UKTR.
  • Informing and training our staff, as well as working with the wider supply chain.
  • Giving honest answers.
  • Addressing issues and establishing safeguards to prevent future occurrences.
  • Periodically reviewing our objectives to seek improvement.

The Directors and staff are committed to establish, maintain, fulfil, constantly review and improve our ISO 14001 environmental management system to meet our compliance obligations and achieve our objectives. We are going beyond the legal minimum requirements for our business as we recognise the serious impact that climate change is having on our planet and wish to operate in a way that minimises this impact.  As we celebrated our 150th birthday in 2024, we look ahead with hope to the next 150 years.

Copies of our environmental policy are made available through our website (www.Sydenhams.co.uk), accessible to all of our stakeholders.
