Softwood sleepers are machined to size and tend to be more uniform in dimension than some other sleepers, they are cut from the same stock as our sawn structural timbers.
Any saw cuts should be retreated with an end-grain treatment to maximise the life of the sleeper.
Softwood sleepers tend to be a pale green colour after pressure treatment and as the sleepers weather the colours will become silvery grey in colour.
